Cigarettes
I started finding discarded cigarette packs on daily meandering park walks with my golden retriever Lopez. Their jewel-like color and design attracted me, and the exposure to the elements made them even more beautiful. They were photographed where I found them, the only artifice is the square composition. One can see the seasons pass in the background. I thought of the people who often stood smoking in one spot, crushing their spent butts, carelessly discarding the pack, and moving on. All a kind of haiku.
